It became known that in the last month activists of our brotherly organizations — the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia and the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia — were repeatedly attacked by fascist thugs. Among the attacked was the First Secretary of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia and the member of the Secretariat of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia comrade Aleksandar Đenić. For his resisting from two members of the neo-nazi clerical organization «Serbian action» who attacked him, he was arrested by police and now is prosecuted while his attackers remain entirely unpunished.
This is not the first act of aggression against comrade Đenić. Earlier, members of fascist groups attacked him several times for his political views and for his role in the organization of student protests in Belgrade against the implementation of the Bologna educational system, supporters of which are the most reactionary forces in Europe.
This fact, as well as the attacks on the Young Communists that took place at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade and in Novi Sad, and during the actions of solidarity with the workers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as acts of vandalism against the headquarters of NCPY in Belgrade indicate the strengthening and revitalization of the most reactionary, fascist elements in one of the victorious countries of World War II.
We demand from the authorities of the Republic of Serbia, the immediate cessation of the persecution of Aleksandar Đenić, taking measures against the criminal acts of neo-fascist groups up to their ban and to ensure the freedom of political activity of the Communists.
We express our deep solidarity and support to our Yugoslavian comrades and wish them further successes in our common hard struggle.
Our cause is just! Victory will be ours!
